Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Finance and Restructuring Litigation Associate to join a prestigious Native American litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to represent tribes, tribal entities, and tribal members on complex issues related to tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination. The associate will also be involved in high-stakes commercial and construction disputes, gaining valuable experience in both litigation and administrative law.

Location: Chicago, IL  

Duties:

  • Represent tribal clients in cases involving tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination.
  • Manage and litigate complex commercial and construction disputes.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on trial preparation and strategy.
  • Maintain and manage a diverse caseload.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in litigation, with a strong interest in Federal Indian Law and administrative law.
  • Prior experience or interest in tribal sovereignty, gaming, or self-determination is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience with trial preparation, depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction where the position is located.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to draft clear, persuasive legal documents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
