A law firm in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking an Intellectual Property Patent Agent with a background in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science. The ideal candidate will be a registered patent agent with strong collaborative skills, a client-focused mindset, and a track record of success in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.

 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to chemical compounds, chemical processes, engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, control systems, consumer products, or medical devices.
  • Conduct patentability searches and prior art analysis.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop patent strategies.
  • Assist in patent portfolio management and maintenance.
  • Provide technical expertise during patent litigation and licensing negotiations.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science.
  • Current registration as a patent agent.
  • 2+ years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.

Education:
