Job Overview:
A growing law firm in Astoria, NY is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their Commercial Litigation Department. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience, with a strong background in Construction Law, including representing general contractors, sub-contractors, owners, developers, architects, and engineers. Experience with AIA contracts and Mechanic's Liens is essential. Location:

Duties:

  • Manage and handle commercial litigation cases, focusing on construction law.
  • Represent clients, including general contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, architects, and engineers.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related contracts, including AIA contracts.
  • Handle Mechanic's Lien issues and related litigation.
  • Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Advise clients on legal matters related to construction disputes and transactions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and development.
  • Appear in court and handle depositions, settlement negotiations, and other litigation-related activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial litigation, with a focus on construction law.
  • Strong experience representing general contractors, sub-contractors, owners, developers, architects, and engineers.
  • Proficiency in handling Mechanic's Liens and AIA contracts.
  • Experience in both litigation and transactional work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity in client relationships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in New York.

Certifications:

  • Active member of the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of commercial litigation, particularly in construction law.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and drafting.
  • Ability to effectively represent clients in litigation and manage case strategy.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
