Job Overview

A prominent law firm in Tucson, AZ, is actively seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney specializing in removal defense to advocate for immigrant rights through comprehensive legal representation. This role requires a dedicated attorney to represent clients in court and before USCIS, manage a legal team, and build impactful case strategies to help individuals facing complex immigration challenges. Ideal candidates will have a passion for social justice and proven courtroom expertise.

Duties

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before EOIR and USCIS.
  • Lead and supervise a team of legal professionals.
  • Conduct in-depth client interviews to develop effective case strategies.
  • Handle complex asylum cases and other forms of immigration relief.
  • Engage in extensive legal research and collaborate with country conditions experts.
  • Draft and file appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Maintain detailed case notes and records.
  • Prepare and submit motions, briefs, and appeals.
  • Liaise with government agencies, including ICE, DHS, and EOIR.
  • Provide top-tier client service throughout all phases of representation.

Requirements

  • Valid law license in good standing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in removal defense.
  • Completion of 30+ Individual Calendar Hearings (ICHs), with a strong focus on asylum cases.
  • Exceptional courtroom presence and advocacy skills.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving positive case outcomes.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong research and documentation abilities.
  • Experience managing and inspiring a team.
  • Spanish language proficiency is highly preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law and in good standing with the relevant State Bar Association.

Skills

  • Strong strategic and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research, especially for complex immigration cases.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain meticulous records and documentation.
