Immigration Attorney

A law firm seeks a talented and motivated Remote Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 3-5 years of experience in immigration law to take on a variety of cases while enjoying the flexibility of a remote position. As an Associate Immigration Attorney, you will manage your caseload, represent clients in immigration proceedings, and work closely with a collaborative team of legal professionals. Duties

• Provide clients with clear explanations of complex immigration law matters and offer strategic legal solutions.
• Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
• Handle and manage a diverse range of cases, ensuring compliance with deadlines and effective progression of each case.
• Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals and assess their legal situations.
• Prepare a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Review and revise immigration application packets, making any necessary adjustments to strengthen cases.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed on developments in immigration law.
• Provide strategic immigration consultations to potential clients, assessing their needs and outlining a tailored plan.
• Develop case strategies and guide clients and witnesses in preparation for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
• Perform legal analysis to identify potential benefits in cases and advise clients accordingly.
• Draft and file legal briefs and other necessary documents for a wide range of immigration matters.

Requirements

• Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law with a focus on diverse case types such as family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, and EOIR matters.
  • Experience handling detained clients and representing individuals in removal proceedings.
  • Familiarity with case management software is highly preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a substantial caseload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and client-centered service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, as well as independently.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal cases, move cases forward, and achieve successful outcomes.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar membership in Puerto Rico or other relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including USCIS processes and removal defense.
• Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and filing legal documents.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
• Experience working with a variety of immigration applications and petitions.
