Intellectual Property Patent Agent

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an Intellectual Property Patent Agent with 1-2 years of experience in patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or computer sciences. Admittance to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate a strong academic record along with the skills, enthusiasm, and commitment necessary for success and advancement within the firm.

Duties:

• Prepare and file patent applications, including drafting claims and specifications.
• Conduct patentability searches and evaluate prior art to support patent applications.
• Respond to office actions and manage communications with the USPTO.
• Collaborate with inventors and clients to gather detailed technical information.
• Develop and implement strategies for patent portfolio management and protection.
• Monitor and track deadlines for patent filings and responses.
• Provide strategic advice on patent-related matters and intellectual property strategy.
• Stay current with changes in patent law and technological advancements.
• Assist in the preparation of patent opinions and analyses.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
• Undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or computer sciences.
• Strong academic record with proven technical and legal proficiency.
• Admittance to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is preferred.

Education:
