A law firm seeks an experienced associate attorney to join its team in Irvine, CA, focusing on municipal transactional law. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with public agency clients on a wide range of legal issues, including land use, open meeting laws, election law, and more. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to public agency clients on a range of municipal issues, including land use, open meeting laws, election law, conflicts of interest, free speech regulations, and public safety matters.
  • Draft ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents for municipal clients.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory matters related to public agency operations.
  • Attend and advise during public meetings and hearings.
  • Handle various transactional and advisory aspects of municipal law, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and client relationships.

Requirements:

  • Must be admitted to the State Bar of California.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in municipal transactional law, including land use, public meetings, conflicts of interest, and election law.
  • Experience in drafting ordinances and resolutions and providing legal counsel on municipal issues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases and projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients.
  • Comfort with attending public meetings and providing legal advice in real time.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to navigate and provide counsel on various aspects of municipal law.
  • Familiarity with public meetings and governance processes.
