A law firm seeks an entry-level immigration attorney to join its team in Los Angeles. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly licensed attorney to gain hands-on experience in immigration law and contribute to a growing, dynamic legal practice. Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, including non-detained and detained individuals.
  • Handle a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and humanitarian relief.
  • Develop legal strategies for clients and prepare them for testimony in court or before USCIS.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Work closely with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss their cases, assess strategies, and provide legal guidance.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.
  • Manage a caseload and prioritize legal matters to meet deadlines.

Requirements:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in immigration law (preferably gained through internships, externships, or prior legal work).
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Must be a team player who is open to collaboration and strategic input from senior attorneys.
  • Experience or familiarity with USCIS applications, family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, and detained cases is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California (or ability to obtain membership).

Skills:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive client matters with professionalism and discretion.
