Mid-Level to Senior IP Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior IP Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-4 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science to work on complex patent litigation matters. They should possess strong experience across all phases of patent litigation, including discovery, drafting pleadings, writing briefs, and preparing and arguing motions. Excellent academic credentials, comparable law firm experience, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required. Admission to the relevant Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission) is essential, with admission to practice before the USPTO preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and handle all aspects of patent litigation cases from inception through trial.
• Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent law and complex technical issues.
• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Participate in discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Prepare for and conduct depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
• Assist in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.
• Represent clients in hearings, trials, and appeals as necessary.
• Provide strategic counsel to clients on IP litigation matters.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• 3-4 years of experience in patent litigation at a law firm.
• Background in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, or computer science preferred.
• Strong understanding of patent law and litigation procedures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional research and analytical abilities.
• Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission).
• Admission to practice before the USPTO preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with PTAB proceedings and other post-grant proceedings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
