A law firm in Madison, WI, is seeking a Government Law Associate Attorney to join their team. The role primarily involves working with the highly regarded government law practice team, with opportunities to work in other diverse practice teams as desired. The ideal candidate will have an interest in municipal law and other practice areas such as real estate, business transactional, election, utilities and energy, and/or environmental law. Strong analytical abilities and excellent communication skills are essential for advising municipal clients on complex issues and drafting legal documents.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with municipal clients to advise them on a variety of complex legal issues.
  • Draft technical documents and legal opinions for municipal clients.
  • Guide clients on implementing policy goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft ordinances and resolutions for municipal clients.
  • Prosecute violations of municipal ordinances and represent clients in court hearings.
  • Collaborate with other practice teams as desired by the applicant.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Wisconsin State Bar or eligibility for admission.
  • Interest in practicing municipal law and other related areas.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
