Job Overview:

A law firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled Corporate/Employment Counsel with a robust background in employment law. This role involves providing expert legal advice on employment-related issues and drafting legal documents to support compliance and strategic initiatives.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on employment-related compliance, including worker classification, wage and hour regulations, immigration issues, union matters, collective bargaining, employment policies, handbooks, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, and other related documents.
  • Provide counsel on reductions-in-force, WARN Act compliance, and other employment-related strategic decisions.
  • Draft and advice on restrictive covenants, including non-compete and non-solicitation clauses.
  • Conduct due diligence and manage employment-related representations and covenants in transaction documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to address employment issues and develop strategic solutions.
  • Stay current with developments in employment law and regulatory changes.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Specific experience in advising clients on employment-related compliance, drafting employment and separation agreements, and handling reductions-in-force and WARN Act issues.
  • Proven ability to draft and advise on restrictive covenants and manage employment-related due diligence in transactions.
  • Membership in good standing with the DC Bar or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • DC Bar membership or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.
