Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in both litigation and transactional work, with a particular focus on data privacy laws. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled attorney to work with clients on privacy issues, including breach response, compliance, and risk management, while contributing to a dynamic and inclusive team. Candidates should have a deep understanding of federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, and HIPAA.

Location:

Duties:

  • Handle privacy-related litigation, including class action cases
  • Provide legal counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Draft, negotiate, and review vendor and customer service agreements
  • Lead breach response and risk management efforts related to privacy and cybersecurity
  • Advise clients on compliance with federal and state privacy laws, such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state-specific biometric and health laws
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on privacy and cybersecurity strategies
  • Participate in business development, client relations, and thought leadership initiatives

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation background, especially in privacy and class action litigation
  • Experience in vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health laws
  • Experience in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar of the relevant jurisdiction
  • Strong organizational, communication, and client management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of the relevant jurisdiction
  • CIPP/US certification is preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation and transactional experience
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating complex agreements
  • Experience with privacy risk management and compliance
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
