Local Government / Employment Attorney/Civil Litigator

A law firm in Glen Allen, VA is seeking an experienced Local Government / Employment Attorney/Civil Litigator to join their team. The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel and representation primarily in matters related to local government law, employment law, and civil litigation.

Duties:

• Represent clients in legal proceedings, hearings, and trials related to local government issues, employment disputes, and civil litigation matters.
• Advise clients on local government regulations, employment law compliance, and litigation strategy.
• Draft and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and opinions.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution methods.
• Maintain client relationships and provide ongoing legal advice and support.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
• Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on local government law, employment law, and civil litigation.
• Proven track record of handling complex litigation matters independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education, Certifications, and Skills:

• Certification or specialization in local government law, employment law, or civil litigation.
• Experience representing local governments, public agencies, or private entities in related legal matters.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
