Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Commercial Real Estate & Finance team. This role involves collaborating with senior attorneys on various real estate and finance transactions, including drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, and more. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in commercial real estate and finance law, with the ability to handle multiple tasks while providing exceptional client service.

Location:

  • Hartford, CT

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, deeds, and other documents related to commercial real estate and finance transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate loan documents on behalf of lenders and borrowers.
  • Review due diligence materials, monitor contingencies, prepare title objections, and review surveys and environmental assessments.
  • Coordinate and review title commitments, UCC, judgment and lien searches, surveys, site plans, and leases.
  • Supervise pre- and post-closing matters, including preparation of documents for recording and filing.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, banks, attorneys, and other parties involved in closings and filings.
  • Manage the review, preparation, and documentation of commercial leasing agreements.
  • Review and negotiate commercial leases, including common area maintenance clauses.
  • Pursue municipal approvals and variances for projects, and review agreements with developers.
  • Draft and review initial documentation, obtain necessary approvals, modify documents as needed, and coordinate document execution.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in commercial real estate and financing law.
  • Experience or interest in land use and zoning transactions preferred.
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar required; admission to New York and Massachusetts Bar (or ability to waive in) preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school, and an active member in good standing with the bar.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional client service.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with professionalism and client-focused orientation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Corporate experience is desirable.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Connecticut Bar (New York and Massachusetts Bar admission preferred, or ability to waive in).

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex real estate and finance transactions efficiently.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in commercial leasing and land use/zoning matters is a plus.
