Duties:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of legal sources such as statutes, regulations, ordinances, court rulings, and legal opinions.
  • Monitor case files to ensure deadlines are met and assist in investigating facts and identifying potential causes of action.
  • Assist with document analysis and handle written discovery processes.
  • Take and defend depositions as part of litigation preparation.
  • Represent clients in court, attending hearings and proceedings as needed.
  • Contribute to trial preparation and participate in the trial process, particularly in professional liability cases.
  • Manage a litigation caseload independently, from initial investigation through case resolution.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Illinois State Bar; a Missouri license is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in defense litigation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to handle complex tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive in seeking guidance and collaboration with senior partners.
  • Solid research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with depositions and significant litigation involvement is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois (Missouri license is a plus).
