Job Overview
A prominent law firm in San Jose is seeking an experienced and dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an attorney with a passion for immigration law to work on a wide variety of cases, including removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and other USCIS applications. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative mindset, a strong commitment to client service, and the ability to manage a caseload while delivering strategic legal solutions.

Duties

  • Provide clear explanations of immigration law and present strategic solutions tailored to each client’s needs
  • Represent clients in immigration court, including non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases, ensuring all deadlines and client needs are met
  • Conduct intake interviews and represent detained clients at immigration detention centers
  • Prepare and submit a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and naturalization applications
  • Review and amend immigration petitions and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding updates to immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations to assess case strategies and outline the best course of action
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for hearings or USCIS interviews
  • Draft and file legal briefs in support of various immigration cases

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience practicing immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize a diverse caseload
  • Strong legal analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Client-centered approach with a focus on providing exceptional legal services
  • Experience with various immigration forms and petitions, including EOIR and USCIS
