A law firm seeks an experienced Environmental Attorney to join its team in Akron, Ohio. This role involves providing strategic legal advice on a range of environmental matters, including property remediation, redevelopment, environmental risk management, compliance with environmental regulations, and more. The attorney will play a key role in helping clients navigate complex legal and regulatory frameworks while managing environmental risks in various transactions and projects.

Duties

  • Counsel clients on property remediation and redevelopment strategies.
  • Advise on transaction-triggered environmental laws and manage environmental risks in contracts.
  • Draft and review agreements, focusing on risk allocation and environmental compliance provisions.
  • Guide the use of environmental insurance policies as risk management tools.
  • Address environmental land use issues and project financing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulatory frameworks and provide proactive solutions to clients.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on solving complex legal issues.
  • Effective time management skills to prioritize multiple ongoing projects.
  • Experience in managing client relationships and delivering tailored legal advice.
  • A portable book of business is preferred but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Ohio or eligibility to obtain an Ohio Bar license.
