Job Overview:
A leading law firm located in Wilmington, DE is actively seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent to become part of their dynamic intellectual property team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within the innovative field of medical devices and bioengineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent prosecution, including drafting and responding to office actions, conducting prior art searches, and assisting in legal opinions. Expertise in mechanical engineering, AI, computer science, and related technical fields will be considered a strong asset.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the medical devices and bioengineering sectors
• Respond to office actions and guide on overcoming objections
• Conduct prior art searches and assist in preparing legal opinions
• Work closely with clients to understand their technical innovations
• Collaborate with attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent filings
• Contribute to various projects related to patent law in the healthcare and tech sectors

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent, particularly in medical devices or bioengineering
• Strong familiarity with patent prosecution and office action responses
• Experience with prior art searches and patentability opinions
• Knowledge or expertise in mechanical engineering, AI, or computer science is a plus
• Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Education:

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in bioengineering, engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical field

Certifications:

• USPTO registration is required
