Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced litigation associate to join its Native American litigation team. This position provides the opportunity to represent tribes, tribal entities, and tribal members on critical legal issues related to tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination. In addition to Native American law, the associate will gain exposure to complex commercial and construction disputes. The firm offers a collaborative and dynamic environment for growth and development in these areas.

Location: Florham Park, NJ 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in litigation related to tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination.
  • Handle complex commercial and construction dispute cases.
  • Draft and review legal documents including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and assist with trial preparation.
  • Manage a caseload and work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on Federal Indian Law or administrative law.
  • Strong interest in Native American legal issues and disputes.
  • Experience with trial preparation, depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex legal matters independently.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of the jurisdiction where the position is located.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
