Job Overview:
A leading law firm is looking to expand its Transactions and Development practice group by hiring an associate attorney with at least 5-6 years of experience in banking and finance law, particularly focusing on energy and infrastructure projects. This is a full-time, partnership-track position ideal for an individual with a strong background in corporate, project, and structured finance. The role offers the opportunity to engage in high-profile energy and infrastructure projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the potential for client-facing responsibilities and leadership opportunities.

Duties:

  • Provide legal support and advice on energy and infrastructure projects, including corporate and project finance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on structured finance transactions.
  • Handle matters related to development finance institutions.
  • Engage in complex legal analysis and offer strategic recommendations.
  • Draft and review contracts and legal documents related to energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing guidance and addressing any legal issues.
  • Coordinate with international teams, particularly on matters related to Latin American and Caribbean markets.
  • Manage client relationships and projects, demonstrating leadership potential.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in banking and finance law, specifically in the energy and infrastructure sector.
  • Strong experience in corporate, project, and structured finance, with an emphasis on energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Expertise in working with development finance institutions is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required; proficiency in Portuguese is a plus but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership capabilities.
  • Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where applying, or commitment to obtaining licensure within one year.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active law license in the jurisdiction of employment.

Skills:

  • Corporate and project finance expertise.

  • Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken).
