Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for clients, focusing on product design and user interface technologies.
  • Provide patent counseling and strategic guidance to clients in areas such as software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on emerging technologies to ensure comprehensive patent protection.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal legal teams to assess patent portfolios and provide technical expertise.
  • Review and respond to communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including office actions and examiner interviews.
  • Develop and implement IP strategies for clients to protect their innovative technologies.
  • Assist in patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
  • Ensure high-quality patent applications and legal documents, maintaining compliance with patent laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Proven track record in patent counseling and providing strategic IP advice.
  • JD (Juris Doctor) degree required.
  • Admission to the USPTO is required.
  • Previous experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is highly preferred.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • JD (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
