Job Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in relevant technological fields such as software, AI, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.
  • Conduct patentability studies, freedom-to-operate analyses, and risk assessments for emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with inventors and engineers to capture innovation and translate technical concepts into well-drafted patent applications.
  • Manage a portfolio of patent prosecution projects, including drafting office action responses and handling other prosecution-related matters before the USPTO.
  • Provide legal advice on intellectual property strategies, patent landscapes, and potential enforcement risks.
  • Conduct due diligence about mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and product clearance in connection with patent portfolios.
  • Review and analyze technical documents to provide informed legal opinions and guidance.
  • Liaise with clients, maintain strong client relationships and ensure timely communication on legal matters.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and legal trends impacting patent law and intellectual property.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in a law firm setting.
  • Admission to the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in any U.S. state, with a preference for Pennsylvania.
  • Proven track record of handling patent portfolios for clients in the technology sector.

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Software-related technologies.
    • Artificial intelligence-related technologies.
    • Internet of Things (IoT), networking, and related technologies.
    • Quantum technologies.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
