Job Overview

A law firm in Stockton, CA, seeks a skilled and dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex criminal cases at various levels and be adept at providing clients with comprehensive legal advice and representation.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advise them on the best strategies following each hearing.
• Manage court appearances and trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and performing legal research.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Manage a workload of cases efficiently.
• Provide legal analysis for clients to determine potential case benefits.
• Accrue additional evidence to support clients' cases or for arguments against the prosecution's charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions, determine essential goals of case strategy, and gather information from witnesses and critical experts that support clients’ positions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Criminal Defense experience.
• Experience handling complex federal, state, and local criminal cases.
• A team player open to helping, strategizing, and working with fellow associates.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Interpersonal skills of the highest caliber.

Education and Certifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
