Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Trial Attorney to join their team in Portland, ME. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury law and be capable of handling a diverse caseload, depositing, arguing motions, and representing clients in court trials. This position requires exceptional litigation and negotiation skills and the ability to advocate for clients in and out of the courtroom effectively.

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse caseload, including personal injury cases.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Argue motions in court.
  • Represent clients in court trials.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay current with relevant laws and precedents.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
  • Develop and implement case strategies.
  • Negotiate settlements and other resolutions.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Admission to and good standing with the Maine State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal injury law (preferred).
  • Exceptional litigation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research software and tools, such as Westlaw.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to and good standing with the Maine State Bar.
