Position Title: Coverage Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm in Tucson, AZ, seeks a dedicated and experienced criminal defense attorney to provide coverage for routine hearings throughout Arizona on a contract basis. The role involves attending court appearances on short notice, handling procedural matters, and updating clients and assigned attorneys. This position is ideal for attorneys with an independent practice seeking additional income.

Duties

• Represent clients at misdemeanor and felony hearings within Pima County and occasionally outside.
• Obtain and relay discovery documents and plea offers to the assigned attorney.
• File motions to continue as needed and reschedule court dates, including setting trials or change of plea dates upon attorney guidance.
• Update clients attending hearings on the purpose and next steps.
• Attend misdemeanor change-of-plea hearings, providing information and answering client inquiries.

Requirements

• Arizona Bar License: Active membership required.
• Experience: Preferably with a background in criminal defense or courtroom representation.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD): Graduation from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed Attorney in Arizona: Must hold an active and valid Arizona Bar License.
