The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience handling civil defense cases and must be licensed to practice in South Carolina and/or North Carolina. This role involves representing clients in a variety of civil defense matters, including insurance defense and general liability cases.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in civil defense litigation, including insurance defense and general liability cases.
  • Handle all phases of litigation from case inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct depositions, prepare for trial, and present cases in court.
  • Provide legal advice and strategy recommendations to clients and manage client expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including paralegals and legal assistants, to ensure timely and effective case management.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and mediation as necessary.
  • Maintain case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Stay updated on legal trends and developments relevant to civil defense litigation.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina and/or North Carolina.
  • 2+ years of litigation experience with a focus on civil defense matters.
  • Proven experience handling civil litigation, including insurance defense and general liability cases.
  • Strong ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively with other legal professionals.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in South Carolina and/or North Carolina.
