Job Location: Washington, DC

Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a skilled and dedicated IP Litigation Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience in intellectual property litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing litigation cases, including involvement in depositions, briefings, motions, and trial proceedings. Candidates with an engineering background and experience before the USPTO will be given priority. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to complex IP cases while developing leadership skills in managing junior associates and paralegals.

Duties:

  • Manage and lead IP litigation cases from inception to resolution.
  • Prepare and file briefs, motions, and other legal documents in support of litigation.
  • Conduct depositions and witness interviews.
  • Work with expert witnesses to support litigation efforts.
  • Represent clients in PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) or trial proceedings.
  • Oversee case management, including coordinating with internal teams and clients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals in day-to-day tasks.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in IP litigation.
  • Strong familiarity with motions practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Proven track record of managing litigation cases independently.
  • Experience working with experts and in PTAB or trial proceedings.
  • Ability to supervise junior associates and paralegals.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Washington, DC, or be able to obtain licensure in DC promptly.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and case management abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred but not required.
  • License to practice law in Washington, DC, or ability to obtain promptly.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and high organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
