Intellectual Property Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Cincinnati, OH, is seeking a qualified Intellectual Property Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience focusing on mechanical engineering, complemented by exposure to electrical and material science fields, particularly in hand tools, power tools, battery technology, and electronics.

Duties:

• Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses.
• Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Advising clients on intellectual property strategies and portfolio management.
• Conducting due diligence investigations.
• Handling intellectual property litigation matters when necessary.
• Providing counsel on licensing and technology transfer agreements.
• Keeping abreast of intellectual property laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the state bar of Ohio (or ability to waive in).
• Minimum 3 years of experience practicing intellectual property law.
• Strong background in mechanical engineering; familiarity with electrical and material science is a plus.
• Experience with patent drafting and prosecution.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Certifications:

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
