A law firm seeks a Senior Associate to join its dynamic team in London, UK. This role is tailored for a seasoned attorney with over six years of experience in high-value, complex international arbitration. The successful candidate will work closely with partners and colleagues on transnational commercial contracts and international investment treaty disputes, while actively contributing to the development of case strategies and client representation.

Duties

  • Collaborate with partners and team members on high-stakes international arbitration cases involving multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist partners in advising and representing clients in complex disputes.
  • Formulate case theories and strategies in cooperation with colleagues.
  • Draft and manage written submissions, ensuring clarity and persuasiveness, while overseeing junior team members in the process.
  • Organize and conduct research and document review, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and assist in the presentation of witness and expert evidence.
  • Liaise directly with clients, witnesses, experts, tribunals, and opposing counsel to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Support business development initiatives, including contributing to law-review publications, client briefings, and conference presentations.
  • Mentor and guide junior associates, fostering their professional development.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in international investment and/or commercial arbitration.
  • A strong academic background, demonstrating excellence in legal studies.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous to enhance the firm’s diverse international capabilities.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research and identify relevant lines of inquiry efficiently.
  • Proficient understanding of appropriate legal research sources and tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal and factual issues, identifying potential challenges and solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the substantive and procedural aspects of contract and treaty arbitration law.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in a relevant jurisdiction.
