Job Overview

A reputable family and elder law firm is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to manage estate, trust, will, and elder law cases across Union and Mecklenburg Counties. This role involves direct client interaction, document preparation, and case management within a growing practice area. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a seasoned Certified Elder Law Attorney and collaborate with a supportive team of professionals.

Duties

  • Meet with potential clients to discuss legal services and provide guidance on estate planning and elder law.
  • Draft legal documents, conduct legal research, and organize client meetings to establish future planning strategies.
  • Ensure top-level client service by maintaining regular communication and prioritizing client needs.
  • Provide tailored solutions to clients' legal challenges through analysis and strategic planning.
  • Record and report billable time accurately on hourly rate and flat fee cases.
  • Collaborate with the Client Experience team and other attorneys to optimize client outcomes.
  • Travel to multiple office locations within the region as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in estate law, with a proven ability to handle cases independently.
  • Active law license in North Carolina; dual licensure in South Carolina is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) is a plus.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to client satisfaction.
  • Detail-oriented and able to exceed client expectations with a high standard of service.
  • Effective communicator with experience in estate planning, trust/estate administration, Medicaid planning, and long-term care benefits.
  • Litigation experience, particularly in guardianship and estate litigation, is desirable.
  • Ability to track and bill time efficiently.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) preferred.
