Job Title: Family Law Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking for a dedicated and motivated Family Law Attorney to join its Family Department. This role demands a proactive individual with strong initiative, a commitment to client service, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload. The ideal candidate will have experience in family law, a solid understanding of legal procedures, and a passion for advocating for clients.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload in family law and provide supervision to paralegal staff.
  • Monitor case deadlines and necessary actions to ensure timely progression.
  • Review and maintain accurate records for both open and closed cases.
  • Draft and edit original petitions, answers, and counterpetitions.
  • Prepare and complete pre-trial discovery documents.
  • Represent clients as the lead attorney in bench and jury trials.
  • Attend mediations, depositions, and other case-related proceedings.
  • File post-judgment motions, bills of review, and appeals.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the Family Department and participate in team meetings.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and judicial officers.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and assist with disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in family law.
  • Proven trial and advocacy skills with experience in litigation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
  • Flexible work schedule as needed.
  • High level of accountability and a robust work ethic.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
