Job Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a mid- to senior-level Associate Attorney to join its Energy, Infrastructure & Project Finance team. This role provides a unique opportunity to represent major industry players in renewable energy projects, including utilities, independent power producers, investors, and developers. The ideal candidate will bring over four years of experience in project development, finance, or M&A within the energy sector and be prepared to take on substantive client responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-growing field.

Duties

  • Represent sponsors, developers, and financing parties in connection with renewable energy project development, acquisition, and financing

  • Draft and negotiate project development and operational contracts, including:

    • EPC Contracts

    • Supply Agreements

    • Offtake Agreements

    • Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Agreements

  • Draft and review ancillary financing documents for:

    • Project finance transactions

    • M&A transactions

    • Tax equity and debt structuring

  • Coordinate with clients and third-party advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle

  • Provide legal advice on strategic transactions across a broad range of renewable energy technologies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of legal experience focused on the energy industry

  • Prior experience at a nationally recognized law firm or in-house legal department

  • Strong background in at least one of the following:

    • Project development/contracts

    • Energy-related M&A

    • Project finance, tax equity, or structured finance

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and maintain client relationships

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier, accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to and good standing with the state bar of the candidate’s place of residence

Skills

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex commercial and project agreements

  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication abilities

  • Familiarity with renewable energy market dynamics and deal structures

  • Ability to work independently, lead projects, and collaborate in cross-functional teams

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
