Litigation Attorney

Job Title: Litigation Attorney (Hybrid Position)

Job Overview:
A law firm based in New York City, NY, is seeking a motivated and skilled litigation attorney to join its growing team. This is a hybrid role offering a blend of office and remote work, ideal for an attorney with strong civil litigation experience, particularly in general liability and/or professional liability matters. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to handle complex cases across various areas of litigation while working in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Duties:

• Represent clients in all stages of litigation, including pre-trial, discovery, and trial phases.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, case management conferences, and other legal proceedings.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and manage discovery investigations.
• Draft and review discovery requests, motions, legal memoranda, pleadings, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
• Summarize depositions and discovery responses, and provide litigation status updates to clients.
• Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to facilitate settlements.
• Provide clear legal advice and maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active Bar membership in Connecticut.
• Proven civil litigation experience, with a focus on drafting discovery, conducting depositions, and arguing motions.
• Background in General Liability and/or Professional Liability matters.
• Exceptional writing and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Lexis software.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in Connecticut.

Skills:

• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in case management and litigation software.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
