Duties

• Litigation Representation:
  • Represent clients throughout all phases of litigation, from initiation through expert discovery, with a focus on professional liability and labor and employment law cases.
• Court and Deposition Attendance:
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and case management conferences, advocating on behalf of clients.
• Legal Research and Drafting:
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare various legal documents, including discovery requests and responses, motions, pleadings, case summaries, and settlement agreements.
• Discovery and Case Preparation:
  • Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing litigation update reports and summaries to guide case strategy.
• Settlement Negotiations:
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, working towards favorable resolutions for clients.
• Client Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing legal analysis, case updates, and strategic advice throughout the litigation process.

Requirements

• Experience:
  • Significant litigation experience in New York, with a strong background in general liability, labor, and employment law preferred.
  • Experience handling discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions.
• Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting motions, briefs, and client correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with legal research tools, including Lexis.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.

Certifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in New York State.
