Job Title: Lateral Labor and Employment Attorney

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm located in Park Ridge, IL, is seeking an experienced and skilled lateral Labor and Employment Attorney to join its dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of complex employment law matters, including labor-related litigation, human resources consulting, and workplace policies. As part of a thriving practice group, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing expert legal counsel to businesses and individuals, while collaborating with other legal teams to meet client needs.

Duties:

  • Draft and review employment agreements, policies, and employee handbooks.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of employment-related issues, including discipline, termination, accommodation requests, and leaves of absence.
  • Provide counsel on human resources matters such as DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), recruitment, HR compliance, and other employment concerns.
  • Handle legal matters related to labor law, including experience in anti-harassment and employment training.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to deliver innovative solutions to complex issues in employment law.
  • Manage all stages of litigation in federal and state courts, including discovery, depositions, motions, and trials.
  • Oversee the investigation, management, and discovery of large volumes of documents and data.
  • Collaborate with other practice groups (e.g., tax, corporate, finance, trusts & estates) to deliver comprehensive legal services.
  • Engage in business development activities such as client presentations, networking events, and industry conferences to grow the firm's client base.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience defending clients in employment law matters.
  • Strong expertise in federal and state labor and employment laws, including wage and hour laws, Title VII, ADEA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and similar state laws.
  • Proven experience in litigation and handling complex employment law cases.
  • Experience in labor law and managing large collections of legal documents and data is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in Illinois.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Illinois.

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law, particularly in labor law and workplace compliance.
  • Strong litigation skills and experience in court appearances.
