Tax Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Tax Associate Attorney with a strong background in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) tax law. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in this specialized area, preferably gained from a Big 4 Accounting firm or an AmLaw 200 tax group.

Duties:

• Provide expert legal advice and support on tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on complex tax issues affecting clients.
• Draft and review transactional documents, including tax provisions in contracts and agreements.
• Assist in due diligence processes and tax planning strategies for M&A transactions.
• Represent clients in tax audits and disputes, if necessary.
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting clients.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing tax law, focusing on mergers and acquisitions.
• Proven experience in an AmLaw 200 tax group, federal Tax M&A group, or equivalent experience at a Big 4 Accounting firm.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Taxation from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar in Illinois (or willingness to become admitted promptly).
