Duties:

  • Represent clients in IEP meetings, advocating for appropriate educational services and accommodations.
  • Handle discipline law matters related to special education students.
  • Manage due process complaints and related legal proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research on special education laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Draft legal documents, including complaints, briefs, and motions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Experience practicing special education law, including attending IEP meetings and handling due process complaints.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Excellent research, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and independently when necessary.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and follow through on projects.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
