Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced and proactive Municipal Law Associate Attorney to join its Frisco office. This role focuses on providing comprehensive legal services to municipalities, covering a wide range of local government law. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a dedication to public service.

Duties:

  • Advise municipalities on various aspects of local government law, including:
    • Land use and development regulations.
    • Subdivision rules and special districts (e.g., public improvement districts).
    • Elections, procurement processes, and utility-related legal matters.
    • Open meetings and public records compliance.
    • Drafting ordinances, resolutions, legal opinions, and city codes.
  • Assist with negotiation, drafting, and revision of legal documents, including:
    • Real estate agreements and transactions.
    • Development and reimbursement agreements.
    • Easements, utility contracts, and Chapter 380 economic incentive agreements.
    • Impact fee and tax abatement agreements.
  • Represent clients at city council and planning and zoning meetings.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, and municipal officials on new developments, annexations, and extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) matters.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on city ordinances, state regulations, and relevant legal issues.
  • Review and approve city council agendas for compliance with local and state government codes.

Requirements:

  • Currently licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas.
  • 1-3 years of experience, ideally in municipal law or working with local governmental entities.
  • Strong commitment to public service and the ability to balance competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents.
  • Analytical, innovative, and capable of independently managing assignments while accepting direction from senior attorneys.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member of the State Bar of Texas.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.
  • Expertise in file and calendar management.
  • Ability to deliver effective oral presentations and written communications.
