Job Overview:

A busy and growing full-service law firm is seeking an experienced Family/Matrimonial Law Attorney to join its expanding Matrimonial Department in Lake Success, NY. This position requires a candidate with 10+ years of matrimonial and family law experience, a proven track record as a first-chair trial attorney, and the ability to manage a substantial caseload. The ideal candidate will have expertise in litigation, trial preparation, and depositions, and should be capable of handling high volumes of cases while providing high-quality, client-focused service.

Location:

  • Lake Success, New York

Duties:

  • Lead 1st chair in trials, focusing on matrimonial cases
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and depositions for matrimonial matters
  • Appear in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk County courts
  • Manage cases through the litigation cycle, ensuring cost-effective strategies
  • Maintain and manage a substantial caseload while attending court as required
  • Oversee attorney court appearances, calendars, and client communication
  • Zealously represent clients in divorce, custody, child support, and other family matters in Supreme Court, Family Court, and related matters
  • Track and organize case status, ensuring all aspects of litigation are well-managed
  • Provide guidance and support to staff in case management and strategy development
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Matrimonial Department by assisting with various cases as needed

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Matrimonial law
  • Proven first-chair trial experience in family law matters
  • NY Bar admission in good standing
  • Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of cases effectively
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with clients, court staff, and colleagues

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the New York State Bar (in good standing)

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in matrimonial law and litigation
  • Expertise in trial preparation, pleadings, motions, and depositions
  • Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
  • Proficient in MS Office and Outlook
