Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm located in Fair Lawn, NJ, is seeking a skilled and dedicated attorney with 2-5 years of experience in New Jersey PIP (Personal Injury Protection) arbitration, specifically focused on fee scheduling. This position will also involve handling a variety of cases, including NJ Workers' Compensation medical provider claims, NJ Commercial (ER/Surprise bill) Arbitrations (IDRs), and NY Commercial (ER/Surprise bill) Arbitrations (IDRs). Duties:

  • NJ Workers’ Compensation (WC):

    • File cases via the NJ eCourts WC Portal (CourtsOnline).
    • Make Zoom appearances, review adversary documents, and handle settlement offers.
    • Paralegal support is available for handling appeals.
  • NJ Commercial Arbitrations (Surprise Bill Arbitration):

    • "Fee schedule" cases and prepare briefs, using mostly templated documents.
    • Paralegal assistance for appeals and filing.
  • NY IDR Commercial Arbitrations (Surprise Bill Arbitration):

    • Prepare briefs, gather UCR (usual, customary, reasonable) evidence, and create "fee schedule" charts.
    • Communicate with clients for input as required.
    • Paralegal support for appeals and filing.
  • NJ PIP Cases:

    • Manage a caseload, including appeals, settlement negotiations, and remote arbitration hearings.
    • Paralegal support for filing and administrative tasks.
  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Manage contingency work equivalent to 1800 hours per year.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar (required).
  • Membership with the New York State Bar is a plus.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active New Jersey State Bar membership (required).
  • New York State Bar membership (preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong background in New Jersey PIP arbitration and fee scheduling.
  • Knowledge of NJ Workers’ Compensation law, commercial arbitrations, and surprise bill arbitration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases concurrently with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in remote arbitration hearings and settlement negotiations.
