A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its real estate practice in Washington, DC. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 2-6 years of experience in real estate law to work on a variety of commercial real estate matters, including lease negotiations, acquisitions, property sales, and loan transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in managing multiple tasks and collaborating in a team environment. This role provides significant exposure to complex real estate transactions and offers growth potential within the firm.

Duties

  • Handle commercial real estate transactions, including drafting and negotiating documents related to leases (both landlord and tenant), acquisitions, dispositions, and financing/loan deals for both lenders and borrowers.
  • Manage due diligence processes, including reviewing title reports and surveys, and overseeing closings.
  • Coordinate with clients and external parties, ensuring all legal and contractual matters are addressed efficiently.
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage multiple assignments, meeting deadlines, and ensuring all documents and processes are accurate.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on complex cases.
  • Maintain client relationships by providing exceptional service and clear communication.

Requirements

  • 2 to 6 years of substantive experience in real estate law, specifically in commercial transactions.
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex real estate documents.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Experience with due diligence reviews and closing processes in real estate transactions.
  • Capacity to handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the DC Bar, or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.

Skills

  • Strong legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills, particularly in real estate law.
  • Knowledge of commercial leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when necessary.
