Job Overview
A respected law firm is currently seeking a skilled Personal Injury Attorney to manage a diverse caseload of personal injury claims, with a focus on motor vehicle cases. This position involves handling cases from initial client intake through to resolution, providing a high level of autonomy and requiring limited supervision. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively work remotely and coordinate with a team of legal professionals located in multiple offices.

Duties

  • Manage all aspects of personal injury cases from inception to closure.
  • Negotiate settlements during the pre-litigation stage and work towards favorable resolutions for clients.
  • Review insurance policies, claims, and case records thoroughly.
  • Draft, file, and argue legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Coordinate the discovery process, including reviewing medical records and performing case assessments.
  • Oversee and guide a team of legal staff, including paralegals and case managers, on active cases.
  • Monitor and manage case deadlines, ensuring compliance with statutes of limitations.
  • Maintain a well-organized docket and ensure timely case progression by firm policy.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience handling personal injury cases, with a focus on motor vehicle accidents.
  • Proven ability to manage all phases of litigation, including negotiations, settlement discussions, and trial preparation.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Valid law license in the state of Indiana (additional licensure in Illinois is a plus).
  • Ability to travel occasionally for case-related matters.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active law license in the state of Indiana (Additional certification in Illinois is preferred).
