The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Immigration Attorney, manage a diverse caseload, and engage in client interactions. They will collaborate with a skilled team of immigration attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires a seasoned professional with 5-8 years of immigration law experience, adept at handling complex cases and providing strategic legal solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and manage an assigned caseload.
  • Explain intricate immigration concepts and offer strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Oversee and manage a diverse workload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and effective case resolution.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers and gather necessary information for case development.
  • Prepare a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets to ensure accuracy and compliance with current laws.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients to provide strategic consultations and determine the appropriate legal strategy.
  • Develop and execute legal strategies, preparing clients and witnesses for court proceedings and USCIS testimonies.
  • Provide comprehensive legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and prepare and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Requirements:

  • At least 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
  • Extensive experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of immigration law and related procedures.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle complex cases and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism with a client-focused approach.
