Mid-Level IP Litigation Associate

Location:

• New York, NY

Duties:

• Handle complex IP litigation cases, focusing primarily on patent and trade secret disputes.
• Draft, review, and manage legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
• Work on inter partes review (IPR) petitions and related proceedings.
• Engage in strategy discussions and case management, collaborating with senior attorneys and clients.
• Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions, and participate in courtroom activities as needed.
• Represent clients in pre-litigation strategy, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on complex IP matters, including emerging technologies and industries.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, offering strategic advice and counsel on IP matters.

Requirements:

• 3–4 years of relevant experience in IP litigation, with a focus on patent and trade secrets disputes.
• A degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics or Computer Science is strongly preferred.
• Strong experience with inter partes review (IPR) petitions is highly desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple complex litigation matters simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to clearly articulate legal arguments and strategies.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, while also taking initiative in individual projects.
• Client-focused approach with an understanding of their business needs and goals.

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Outstanding academic credentials.

Certifications:

• Relevant bar admission required.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong IP litigation experience, especially in patent and trade secrets.
• Legal writing and research expertise.
• Experience with IPR petitions and other PTAB proceedings is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of high-tech industries such as software, digital media, and semiconductors.
• Ability to manage litigation teams and contribute to case strategy.
• Client management skills and experience with business development.
