A law firm seeks a motivated and dedicated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a new attorney to build a solid foundation in immigration law while handling a diverse caseload. You will be mentored by senior attorneys, manage client interactions, and gain hands-on experience in removal defense, family-based petitions, and other essential immigration matters. The role is based in Phoenix, AZ, and offers ample room for growth within an established firm committed to client success and professional development.

Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and humanitarian relief cases.
  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings, including both detained and non-detained individuals in hearings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at centers and provide legal counsel.
  • Develop and implement case strategies, working with senior attorneys to prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis and guidance to clients regarding potential benefits and case strategies.
  • Prepare legal briefs and motions for submission in immigration cases.
  • Work closely with law enforcement, community organizations, and prosecutorial offices to stay updated on changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Meet with potential clients, conduct strategic consultations, and determine the appropriate legal course of action.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants to ensure case progress and client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in Immigration Law, with a focus on removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload, meet deadlines and advance legal cases.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review), Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS forms.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Arizona (or another state bar if applicable).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and USCIS processes.
  • Excellent client management and consultation abilities.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills, with the ability to prepare detailed briefs and motions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficient with legal case management systems and related tools.
  • High level of attention to detail and organization.
