Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking a dedicated Senior Immigration Litigation Attorney to join its team in New York City's Financial District. This role involves managing complex immigration cases, representing clients in court, and overseeing immigration-related litigation matters from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in immigration court litigation and a passion for providing high-quality legal support to clients navigating the evolving immigration landscape.

Location

Duties

  • Lead and manage a range of immigration litigation cases from intake to completion
  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings, including Master and Individual hearings
  • Handle a busy docket defending the Immigration and Nationality Act and related executive policies in district and appellate courts
  • Attend various USCIS interviews, including Adjustment of Status, Stokes, I-751, and Naturalization interviews
  • Prepare and file motions, evidence, and correspondence with the Immigration Court and the Office of the Chief Counsel
  • File Notices of Appeal and Appellate briefs with the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Research and draft legal petitions and documents
  • Prepare and litigate SIJS petitions before New York Family Courts
  • Supervise and train junior associates and support staff
  • Report case statuses to partners and manage tasks of supporting personnel

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required
  • Admitted to a State Bar (New York preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in complex immigration litigation
  • Admission to Federal Circuit Courts (1st to 11th) is a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is advantageous

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Bar admission in any U.S. state (NY preferred)

  • Strong analytical, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a large docket of cases and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in legal research and litigation practices
  • Excellent client service and case management abilities
