Patent Agent needed for Minneapolis office

A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to support the IP Practice in Minneapolis.

Job Overview:

• Support the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios.
• Focus on drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Opportunity to work directly with clients and contribute to the firm's IP practice.

Duties:

• Draft patent applications in collaboration with inventors and attorneys.
• Prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Conduct prior art searches and patentability analyses.
• Assist with patent portfolio management and strategic counseling.
• Communicate effectively with clients and provide technical expertise.

Requirements:

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Degree or advanced degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Candidates with degrees in electrical engineering or relevant experience will be considered.
• Strong experience drafting complex mechanical patent applications is a plus.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Comfortable working directly with clients.
• Strong writing and analytical skills.

Education & Certifications:

• Degree or advanced degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
