A law firm in Oak Park, IL is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Attorney, the Immigration Attorney will handle a diverse caseload, interact with clients, and work closely with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires a professional with 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law who is adept at managing cases and providing strategic legal solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage an individual caseload of immigration cases.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a high volume of cases and ensure timely progress and resolution.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers and gather necessary information.
  • Prepare a range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making any necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates and changes.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and devise appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify any potential benefits and prepare legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Illinois.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with a client-focused approach.
  • Proficiency with case management software is a plus.
