Job Overview:

A law firm based in Chicago, IL, seeks a Mid-Level Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with 4-7 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in counseling clients on various employment issues and representing clients in single-plaintiff, class/collective action employment, and wage and hour litigation. Experience in ERISA litigation is advantageous. The firm values a superior academic record, a strong work ethic, and excellent writing and research skills.

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on employment-related matters, including workplace policies, discrimination, and wrongful termination.
  • Represent clients in litigation related to single plaintiff and class/collective action employment disputes, including wage & hour claims.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex employment law issues to support case strategies.
  • Advise clients on compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Participate in discovery processes, including depositions, interrogatories, and document production.
  • Negotiate settlements and facilitate resolution of employment disputes.
  • Keep abreast of legal developments in employment law and update clients on relevant changes.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and contribute to case preparation and strategy discussions.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Proven track record of handling single plaintiff and class/collective action employment and wage & hour litigation.
  • Experience with ERISA litigation is a plus.
  • Superior academic record and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility to be admitted to the Illinois State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Knowledgeable in federal and state employment laws.
  • Strong litigation and case management abilities.
  • Effective negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
