Job Title: Patent Agent - Biotech 

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm, located in Clayton, MO, is actively seeking a skilled Patent Agent to support its growing Biotech practice. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, particularly in the field of life sciences, and will be responsible for assisting with patent prosecution and other IP-related matters for biotech innovations.

Duties:

  • Provide patent prosecution support, including preparation and filing of patent applications.
  • Assist with patentability analyses and freedom-to-operate assessments.
  • Draft and file responses to office actions, including examiner interviews.
  • Work closely with inventors, attorneys, and other professionals to support innovation and IP strategy.
  • Conduct prior art searches and evaluate patent portfolios.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper documentation and filing.

Requirements:

  • Active registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • At least 2 years of experience in laboratory research, preferably in biotech fields such as immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, or biochemistry.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and technical expertise in life sciences or related disciplines.
  • Experience with antibody technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in a related field such as Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar.
  • Preferred experience in biotech, specifically in antibody technologies.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration
